Today is my day to walk the floor and watch the great work of the tailors. Each tailor produces a complete garment by himself. There is no piece work. And most tailors in India are men. I call it India style. Some tailors can make 4 madras shorts per day and some can make 6 depending, of course, on what they’re making. Here is another bit of India style. If a tailor does not come in one day, he is not questioned why. All assume he had something more pressing. However, if he came back to see someone else at his machine, he would never come back. Our answer to this has been to buy enough machines and more so that everyone can have their own machine whenever they chose to use it. Of course, most show up daily. A few photos of the factory.
